The original Land Rover Freelander was launched in October 1997. It became Europe's best-selling four-wheel drive model until 2002.
The second generation named the Freelander 2 made its debut in 2006 and featured higher ground clearance and off-road capabilities. It had improved quality interior with more safety features as standard and came in a variety of different specificiations such as, GS, XS, HSE, Sport & Dynamic.
The Freelander was replaced by the Discovery Sport in 2015.
